Here.i am sharing my views on structuralism....
Structuralism:
Gerard Genette wrote essay named “structuralism and literary criticism”. He borrowed term from Clude levi-strauss, who wrote about Culture and myth, Arteeact & text, Lange/parole etc. The name “structuralism” given to Saussure apporch to language as a system of relationship. He also said about Diachronic and Syn chronic ways of studying language. Structuralism is all about meanings words and perspectives. Words have not their own meanings but meanings given to words through different perspectives.
Here, I want to elaborate it through different examples. There are five movies Dirty picture, Fashion, Hate Story, Damini and Highway and one novel Thousand splendid sons by which I would like to throw more light on my topic. All works are different but there is one common thing “Woman Harassment” in different ways. How meaning goes change when context change that I want to show by this examples.
“Dirty Picture” is directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Akta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor and acted by Vidhya Balan, Nasarudin Shah, Tushar Kpoor and Emran Hashmi. This film inspired by the life of south Indian actress “Silk Smitha” where infidelities have also became a part of life.
“fashion” is directed and produced by Madhur Bhandarkar acted by Priynka Chopra, Kangana Ranuat etc. this film ia about small town girl who sets out to fulfill her dream of being a glamorous supermodel but she is about to find out that in the currept world of haute couture, success comes at a price.
